| Abstract | Cone-ring-transmission (KRG) is a new traction based CVT concept. It is developed by GIF in all aspects of transmission engineering such as research, calculations, design, controls system, prototype manufacturing and testing.
Main components of KRG are two cones and a transmission ring surrounding the input cone. A dry clutch is used for start-up. KRG employs electric actuators, but no hydraulic systems.
KRG technology targets at the small cars market (up to 250 Nm). Due to its compact size, low cost, and excellent fuel efficiency it provides a high-performance automatic transmission alternative. |
