 Datsun Fairlady SP310
image
The Fairlady was launched in 1962 as the first Japanese-built fully-fledged sports car able to compete on an international level. On release, it had a 3-person seat, but this was changed to fit 2 people after some minor changes in 1964. In 1965 (SP311), a 1600 cc engine was introduced with output boosted to 90 ps. The Fairlady shown in this picture (number 39, driven by Genichiro Tawara) came first in its class at the first Japanese Grand Prix in 1963.
