This popular car was responsible for firmly cementing the motorization of Japan's society.
Equipped with the newly developed K series engine (1100 cc) and a strut type front suspension, the KE10 achieved a world-class level of performance and comfortable ride quality in its segment. It was also fitted with a full range of safety equipment, such as safety padding, 2-speed wipers, and seatbelt anchors.
Style:
The KE10 adopted a style of design that gave it worldwide appeal, featuring a sport semi-fastback and dynamic front grille.
Design for high-speed:
As mentioned above, the new 1100 cc K engine enabled a top speed and acceleration performance second-to-none in its class throughout the world.
The KE10 had impressive continuous high-speed endurance due to its 5-bearing, double chain drive high-camshaft, and high-volume alternator. Design for economy:
The KE10 offered improved operability due to its fuel-efficient (22 km/l), high-performance engine, and floor-mounted shift lever that enabled the driver to shuttle through the 4-forward speed transmission to find the best gear for the driving conditions.
Design for comfort:
The strut type front suspension and 6.00-12 4PR tires provided a comfortable ride. Quietness was achieved by thoroughly following the 3 fundamental development principles that the car should not give off, transmit or admit any noise, and then by improving the engine, suspension springs, body frame structure and the like.
Design for safety:
Each variant of the KE10 were provided with all necessary safety features, such as safety padding, 2-speed wipers, seatbelt anchors, and a mechanism that prevented the front seats from collapsing forward.
