The "Kopen" (with a "K") concept vehicle gained immense popularity at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1999. The name was changed from "K (K for 'kei' which stands for minicar in Japanese) + open" to "Copen: C (compact) + open". It was marketed as Daihatsu's image leader, as a product that would be a joy to own and fun to drive despite its restricted space. |
