The world's first telematics service, "Carwings" provides functions such as the provision of various information, email, hands-free phone, and road navigation by connecting a mobile phone with the vehicle. It is a new generation in-vehicle system that suggests a new mobile lifestyle.

Device structure:Other than the unit body, this system consists of a steering wheel switch that enables simple operation, a microphone for hands-free phone operation in combination with voice command, a GPS antenna for receiving electrical waves from GPS satellites, a dedicated mobile phone storage pocket with a built-in connection cable, etc.

Performance function:The new model March, which is the first vehicle equipped with this system, has the following functions.
(1)The information acquisition function, which provides driving information, such as traffic information and weather forecasts that can be obtained anytime in real time.
(2)The communication function, which informs the current location of the vehicle to mobile phones and PCs of friends and family members.
(3)The hands-free function, which enables communication by connecting mobile phones with in-vehicle equipment.
(4)The road navigation function, which enables confirmation of the present location by displaying maps of the surrounding position by GPS.
(5)The support function, which provides a road service in which a specialized operator directly handles vehicle problems such as breakdowns on a round-the-clock basis. The support function also provides the so-called "Compass Link Light" service where functions such as information searches are performed instead by an operator.
(6)The vehicle information display function, which displays fuel efficiency information and the like.

Effect:The system provides the pleasure of being connected with friends and family, and also presents various kinds of information. It also enables safe and convenient driving by its simple road navigation functions and the ability to contact an operator in case of emergency.
