The form of the Aero Bus was designed to completely change the image of the conventional highway bus. Designed by the Italian designer Aldo Sessano, it possesses a functional beauty well-suited to highway operation. Its style is the result of an uncompromising quest for the best possible aerodynamic characteristics, and its air resistance coefficient is amazingly low.
This was the first bus body made in Japan to use a super-comp structure, which combined a rigid frame with a monocoque body, and it reduced the vehicle weight while increasing its strength and rigidity.
Rivetless construction was employed to improve the exterior appearance by giving the body a smooth surface. This was also the first Japanese bus to use independent front air suspension, which significantly improved its steering and safety.
