| This system uses an electric motor-generator directly connected to the engine and a parallel type hybrid system using a nickel hydride battery. The system stores energy generated when the vehicle decelerates, and the motor provides assistance to the engine. This reduced exhaust gas and soot and realized revolutionary improved fuel economy. With a high-power motor and battery, the system demonstrates stress-free and powerful driving and comfortable acceleration. |

| Points of interest, topicality | : | This system uses an electric motor-generator directly connected to the engine and a parallel type hybrid system using a nickel hydride battery. | |
| Features | : | This system conformed to the world's severest emission gas regulations (the new long-term emissions regulations (2005)) by further development of the DPR low-emissions system. DPR received 4 stars under the new short-term emissions regulations (2003 and 2004) and reduced PM and NOx emissions by 10% or more below the regulation values. The advantage of the new system lies in the use of reliable conventional technologies. It uses the same fuel and methodology as the system in the 4-star vehicles and can therefore be used safely for a long period of time. | |
